Pouco mais da metade vai para aterros sanit\u00e1rios, que s\u00e3o \u00e1reas preparadas para receber e tratar o lixo. E o destino de 41% desses res\u00edduos s\u00e3o os lix\u00f5es, montanhas de res\u00edduos a c\u00e9u aberto que, por lei, deveriam estar totalmente extintas at\u00e9 agosto de 2024. Mas ainda fazem parte do cen\u00e1rio urbano de tr\u00eas em cada dez munic\u00edpios, segundo o IBGE.<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; text-align: justify; margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Nesse contexto, a coleta seletiva surge como uma das principais alternativas para reduzir o volume de res\u00edduos enviados a aterros e lix\u00f5es, contribuindo para a preserva\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental e a diminui\u00e7\u00e3o dos riscos geol\u00f3gicos. <\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; text-align: justify; margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;\">Ao separar materiais recicl\u00e1veis, como pl\u00e1stico, papel, vidro e metal, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel direcion\u00e1-los para centrais de triagem e cooperativas, que os encaminham \u00e0s ind\u00fastrias recicladoras. J\u00e1 os res\u00edduos org\u00e2nicos podem ser aproveitados por meio da compostagem, reduzindo a quantidade de lixo descartado incorretamente. Ali, os res\u00edduos s\u00e3o dispostos em camadas e cobertos por terra e materiais imperme\u00e1veis, que ajudam a reduzir odores e o contato com o meio externo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38; text-align: justify; margin-top: 12pt; margin-bottom: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;\">Al\u00e9m disso, s\u00e3o instalados sistemas de drenagem para captar o chorume, l\u00edquido resultante da decomposi\u00e7\u00e3o do lixo, e o biog\u00e1s gerado, de modo a minimizar impactos ambientais.
